        Lesson 1

        • Introduce the definition of "corpus" and various spoken corpus types.
        • Provide an overview of the three corpora used in this course.
        • Familiarize students with corpus linguistics and its relevance.
        • Equip students with the skills to navigate and utilize spoken English corpora.

        Lesson 2

        • Introduce the definition of "corpus" and various spoken corpus types.
        • Provide an overview of the three corpora used in this course.
        • Familiarize students with corpus linguistics and its relevance.
        • Equip students with the skills to navigate and utilize spoken English corpora.

        Lesson 3

        • Recognize common segmental issues in English spoken by Chinese speakers through a hands-on identification activity.

        Lesson 4

        • Apply knowledge gained to analyze and correct segmental issues in their own pronunciation.
        • Collaborative work to identify segmental issues in the students' own readings of the Wolf passage.

        Lesson 5

        • Introduce suprasegmentals (connected speech, stress, intonation, pausing).
        • Identify common suprasegmental issues among Chinese learners.
        • Use corpus examples to illustrate different suprasegmental issues.

        Lesson 6

        • Identify common suprasegmental issues in English spoken by Chinese speakers through a hands-on identification activity.

        Lesson 7

        • Apply knowledge gained to analyze and correct suprasegmental issues in their own pronunciation.
        • Collaborative work to identify suprasegmental issues in the students' own readings of the Accent passage.

        Lesson 8

        • Pronunciation practice, with a focus on the segmental issues of Chinese learners of English.

        Lesson 9

        • Pronunciation practice, with a focus on the suprasegmental issues of Chinese learners of English.

        Lesson 10

        • Students give a presentation on their own pronunciation issues identified in this course and propose possible remedies.
        • Students will re-read the same passage and compare it with their initial reading to assess improvement.
